I’m a bit of an anomaly among my friends, because I don’t think of chocolate as a life-affirming food group, but more of a nice accent.

So when I saw this anthology call, there wasn’t a particular form of chocolate that begged me to write about it – until we went out for a birthday dinner for a family member at a pizzeria-pub that had just opened in our neighborhood. There was an Imperial Chocolate Stout on the menu that piqued my curiosity. The moment I tasted it, I knew I’d found exactly the right chocolate for my story. I hope you agree!
